People on the River
One of best things about traveling on the River is the people we got to meet, see, talk with, and share stories with. A common trend among all the people we met was that they wanted to help us out, share something with us, wish us well, and most of all ask "how you all doing"?
This pictue is of a father and son we met near the confluence of the Mississippi and Arkansa Rivers. They were rice farmers and out for a morning of fishing. The father had grown up on the River and many stories to tell of how he fished, camped, and water skied on the River. He was the first one to tell us about the flying fish we had started to see coming up out of the River. More to come on that topic.
Their gift to us was a gallon of fresh water in a gallon Gatorade jug. I think we made that last almost two days.
This was a common river boat, flat bottom, off center console, and a very heavy guage alimuim so that they can drive these boats right up on the rocks.
